Heat or Eat? Millionen Menschen stehen vor der Frage, wie sie ihre Strom- und Gasrechnungen bezahlen sollen. Weltweit nimmt die Zahl an Menschen, die keinen Zugang zu Strom haben und unter Energiearmut leiden, zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte deutlich zu. Zugleich hat die fossile Industrie im Jahr 2022 Rekordgewinne gemacht und unglaubliche zwei Billionen US-Dollar rein an Übergewinnen erzielt. Die globalen Treibhausgasemissionen waren 2022 so hoch wie noch nie zuvor. Kohle, Öl und Gas sind für 85% dieser Emissionen verantwortlich. Keep them in the ground! Dringender denn je braucht es eine #EnergiewendefürAlle!

Doch wie können wir diese durchsetzen?

Diese zentrale Frage wollen wir gemeinsam mit unseren Referent:innen aus den USA, UK und Deutschland diskutieren und vertiefen: Wie können wir unsere Energieversorgung so organisieren, dass ein gutes Leben für alle innerhalb der planetaren Grenzen möglich wird? Wie können wir in den Protestbewegungen zur Energiekrise und den steigenden Lebenskosten die ökologische Dringlichkeit und die internationale Solidarität stärken? Wie können verbindende Forderungen und Aktionen entwickelt werden?

Energy struggles

Heat or Eat? Millions of people are facing the question of how to pay their energy bills. Globally, the number of people without access to electricity, thus suffering from energy poverty, is increasing significantly for the first time in history. At the same time, the fossil fuel industry made record profits in 2022, generating an incredible $2 trillion purely in excess profits. Global greenhouse gas emissions were at an all-time high in 2022. Coal, oil and gas account for 85% of those emissions. Keep them in the ground! More urgently than ever, we need an #EnergyTransitionForEveryone!

But how can we achieve this transformation?

Together with our speakers from the US, the UK and Germany, we want to discuss and deepen this central question: How can we organize our energy supply in such a way that a good life for all becomes possible within planetary boundaries? How can we strengthen ecological urgency and international solidarity within the protest movements on the energy crisis and the rising cost of living? How can we develop unifying demands and actions?
